The name....

Why call the community 'inspiral'?

There are three main reasons we chose a spiral to symbolize our community.  Firstly, a spiral is a circular image, which represents

inclusion.  It is an embracing image, and there are no corners to get lost in. Secondly, unlike a circle, a spiral is permeable.  There are

no boundaries demarcating what is clearly inside and outside.  Access is clear and easy.  Thirdly, a spiral has a sense of movement.

This community is a dynamic one which is constantly changing and evolving.  Like a spiral, we are seeking to move in two directions;

inwardly, towards the centre (the centre being Jesus) and outwardly into the world.  inspiral combines the spiral motif with the idea

of inspiration.  'Inspire' comes from the root word 'spirit', which literally means 'breath', something necessary for life.  We are inspired

by Jesus, who gives us life, and want to share that life with others.

What we're about...

We aim to:

inspire:
We aim to inspire people to engage with Jesus, and to be inspired by our engagement with Jesus. This inspiration gives purpose and
meaning to our lives through spiritual engagement and commitment to pursuing genuine faith.

include:
We actively welcome, love and care for all people regardless of gender, race, faith background or social status. We welcome and
celebrate such diversity. As a group, we are committed to caring for one another.

involve:
We want to make a positive difference in our world. For this reason, shaped by the values of Jesus, we involve ourselves in working for
justice and in sharing our lives with friends.

What we do...

We meet weekly on Sunday afternoons at 4:30pm.  We usually have a discussion time, then share a vegetarian dinner together.

In 2008 we will be following the church year.  We'll also have:

* Life stories

* Skill shares

* Celebrations
